Compostable Plastic Bags

Every year approximately 500 billion to 1 trillion plastic bags are used worldwide. Petrochemical based plastic bags can take many years to decompose and pose a serious threat to marine wildlife and the environment.

Only certified compostable plastic bags are capable of undergoing biological decomposition in a compost site and break down into carbon dioxide, water, inorganic compounds and biomass at a rate consistent with other compostable materials such as organic waste. Compostable plastic bags are as strong and reliable as traditional (mostly polyethylene)-bags. 

Our compostable plastic bags are made from corn starch and are certified to meet Australian and international standards.

Educational graphics printed on the bags help to spread the message about the benefits of recycling and solid waste solutions however there are also branding opportunities for local businesses.

Future plans include the development of bags from other organic materials such as sweet potato crops, presenting an opportunity to work with locally produced crops and to source raw materials locally.
